Hallo everyone,

first of all thx to Sam Pirok for guiding me to the right comm 😄

Our it-office has the following problem:

A costumer of us is using Summit X440 Switches with two 10gig Uplinks (so obv using a Dual Upgrade License for each Switch). We are using those for quiet some time now. Never had a Problem entering the license keys or else. Two days ago a switch went offline (unreachable) because the uplink went down. Log showed following:

06/07/2022 13:05:57.38 <Warn:HAL.Port.Chk10GPortLcnsFail> 10G license not present for port 28. Speed will be reduced to 1Gbps with auto-negotiation on.

06/07/2022 13:05:55.39 <Warn:HAL.Port.Chk10GPortLcnsFail> 10G license not present for port 27. Speed will be reduced to 1Gbps with auto-negotiation on.

even tho we entered the license before and where already using it for a week or so. We reentered the key and still the same problem. "Show license" shows that there is a 10gig module in use but when taking a look at the two interfaces we´re using , it says "no license". The wierd thing now is , if u reenter the license the switch tells u that one is already in use and even wierder ... we can use the other two 10gig interfaces with no Problem. Like the switch wont let us use the license/10gig on the last two ports. Fyi on all other switches in the same network we are using the Port 51/52 or 27/28 (more then 50 switches) We configured the other ports now and are able to get it going again , but how did this Problem happen ? Is this a known thing , or is there a feature we dont know about :D?

Hi Kevin,

Were those logs immediately after the reboot or are you saying those logs were generated which is what caused the switch in question to go down/lose connectivity?

Thats what the log says afterwards. We dont know why the Ports went down , log only shows this now.
College said switch shows license is there at boot , but then log is saying else. (can get u the screen from cli if u want the massages shown after boot) Here more from the log back then:

what we did - reenabling license , inserting Gbics into 27/28 and then we got this out of the log:
