topic ISW 8-10/100P, 4SFP console connection in ExtremeSwitching (EXOS/Switch Engine)

Hi folks,

I have problem connecting with console port to ISW 8-10/100P switch. I’m aware of known problem with unsupported console cables causing switch boot failure but that’s not the case here.

I use extreme console cable provided with x440-series switches (I didn’t get any with ISW) but the switch console does not respond.

I tried putty with every possible setting (speeds, flow control, etc). I power the ISW with only 1PS (the recommended one). It’s just a lab setup so I didn’t connect ground connector but I don’t thing it might be the cause.

However, I found that when I power on the switch with extreme console cable plugged in, it fails to boot (all LEDs are still, nothing happens).

So I’m wondering what’s the case here? What am I doing wrong?

The serial port pinouts of the ISW are different (from XOS and other switches).

I had made the attached doc to retain sanity.

Oh, I didn’t know that pinout is different. Indeed it worked. Thanks!
