Hi,

Some of our X440G2 switches show high temperatures (around 90°C)

Fans seem to work. So when looking at CPU usage, I’ve noticed the HAL process has a max usage of 99,9% and a constant 20%.

After reading this article I was wondering if the bootROM on the device should get an upgrade.

Currently, IMG version is 22.7.1-2, bootROM is 1.0.1.8

Is it good practice to do the upgrade? Where can I obtain the file?
Maybe there are other ways I should try prior to upgrading?

Thanks!

Daniël

Hi Nikolay,

Thanks for the reply.

I’ve seen the article you mentioned. It’s because of this advice to “only upgrade BootROM when instructed by GTAC” that I started the topic here. If 1.0.1.8 is already the latest I have my answer, thx 🙂

If you have any suggestions regarding the problem with HAL process..?

Kind regards,

Daniël

HAL usage could be high due to different reasons:

high port numbers (especially if you have stack) # X770 with default config has 30% HAL CPU usage

bulk SNMP polls put switch into stress

frequent STP TC

MAC moves

etc

If you want further investigation this, please raise case in GTAC.

https://gtacknowledge.extremenetworks.com/articles/How_To/How-to-contact-Extreme-Networks-Global-Technical-Assistance-Center-GTAC/?q=GTAC+case&l=en_US&fs=Search&pn=1

Nikolay
