PIM-SM to PIM-DM will only work with static joins on a x460 has anyone succeded otherwise?

has anyone configured a x460 to run multicast from a PIM-SM vlan to a PIM-DM network. the only way this works is to add static group statements. if i use a PIM-SM vlan on the receiver side it will join multicast on Sparse source.not ideal when you have 400 multicast to join. id like to run PIM-DM on receivers and PIM-SM on the source vlan. any ideas would be appreciated.

configure pim add vlan "Video-10Gig" dense
configure pim add vlan "Cspire-MPEG4" dense
configure pim add vlan "Sparse-PIM" sparse
configure pim add vlan "PIM-CBSR-LOOPBACK" dense
configure pim add vlan "stb-test" dense
enable pim
configure pim register-checksum-to include-data
configure pim ipv6 register-checksum-to include-data
configure pim crp static 192.168.1.1 "mc-list" 0

this is my current config it will work however, just have to set a static group command to make the switch join the multicast.
