I suggest following this article: https://extreme-networks.my.site.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000082599

If you replace a node with the same type there's no need to "unconfigure slot" (as this would remove the configuration for that slot) that's mentioned in step 1.. this is only applicable when swapping the unit with a different hardware-type.

hey, I have a stack of x440 g2 switches. recently one of the switches in the stack failed and was replaced via RMA.

Switches are added to XMC from where they download NAC policies.

I wonder if there is any procedure for replacing a switch in a stack?

I found an article about adding a switch: https://extreme-networks.my.site.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000083355&q=000083355 for a existing stack.

question: does the same procedure apply when replacing a switch?

Do I need to remove any configuration from the stack first, and add again according to the article?

I remember once when I added a switch to the stack and it became the master and then it destroyed my entire configuration, I prefer to avoid that.

thanks for your help in advance

Hi Wsalkos!

Here is the right procedure: https://extreme-networks.my.site.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000082599

I think it's a bit more complicated than just adding a new slot. You should focus on slot no. and mac address of replacement node while reconfiguring stack.

REGARDS

Robert
