topic Why not wake up gently with a stepper motor? in ExtremeSwitching (EXOS/Switch Engine)

Hello everyone!
I control a stepper motor. I realized that waking up in the morning to the light of a desk lamp (controlled with an arduino and my iPhone) is not a pleasant thing. So, to implement a new element with the arduino, I came up with the idea of opening the curtains with a motor.

So I bought a step-by-step motor to get started ...... Unfortunately, it's hard to find information on this... In fact, when I type in the reference, it ends up on the website of the store where I bought it www.steppermotor.fr
It's a 9 volt DC motor with 8 wires... From what I've read (and don't understand at the moment) I can connect it any way I want (unipolar, bipolar, single-phase, dual-phase) and I'm still trying to understand how it works .

My goal is obviously to be able to control it via arduino and most importantly .Recognize the wires! I tried plugging in 9 volts and testing it with these two wires and found resistance in the motor . Also, it was heating up. This is not reassuring at all.

This is where I am at the moment. Should I start with a motor with fewer wires? Is it possible to identify the wires? Why does the motor get hot? So many questions that I can't answer in a moment? Can you help me out a bit?
Thanks for any future help.
