How are you obtaining this output? If you do a "show config" it does not list the default configuration settings that come out of the box. If you do a "show config detail" then you see these default settings.

Hi,

I am using show config. Why would the switch make these changes is this a bug?

I have had a few of these exact same model coming back in worse state than this. All the modules have been configured.

Thanks
Do you have an NMS (Ridgeline or NetSight) in your network that may be automatically adding or configuring these devices? What device is 172.16.0.59?

No we dont use anything like that here just configure locally.

Nothing on this address maybe something at one point but probably just a client, This has happened on multiple switches though who have no sight of each other.
Hi Jeremy,

What version of EXOS is running on these switches?

Most of this looks like default configuration, so I suspect that this may be an earlier version of EXOS, where all configuration was shown in the output of 'show config', not just non-default configuration.
Hi

we are using:

Primary ver: 12.0.3.16
Secondary ver: 12.0.3.16

I though "show config detail" was to show the defaults?

Thanks
Hi Jeremy,

In EXOS 12.0, 'show config' and 'show config detail' will give the same output. If you upgrade to a later EXOS version, 'show config' should show only non-default configuration. The EXOS version that is currently recommended for the X250e is the latest patch of EXOS 15.3.5.2, which is currently 15.3.5.2-patch1-5.

However, this show config output should be fixed in an earlier version of EXOS as well. I can't find the exact version right now, but I'll look for it and let you know what I find.

Hi Jeremy,

Just to follow up, I tested this in the lab, and it was fixed starting in EXOS 12.1.

So as long as you upgrade past 12.0, you should be good as far as the show config output goes. This should not cause any functional issues, since the only thing affected is what is shown in the output of show config. The actual configuration is not affected.
Ah yea now i see, i hadn't noticed this before. I was so used to the new release.

Im sure though that version 12.x.x did work at some point with show config show only non-default configuration. It just seems strange that when we swapped them for new X440 they worked a treat.
edit: yes 12.1 thanks!

Since you are being helpfull does extreme have a basic troubleshooting guide to follow using EXOS i usually just use the show command to find anomalies.

show port utilization
show port configuration
show tech... etc.
any help would be great.

Thanks
