Has anyone been able to graph optical light levels on extreme devices with DDMI supported lasers? A lot of 3 party vendor devices already have these capabilities.

Hi Bernard,

It does not look like there is an OID for this to poll it via SNMP in EXOS. I would suggest getting in touch with your account team or opening a case with GTAC to get a feature request for this.
Hi all!

I asked Extreme team to open case about this functional.
There was opened case #107505 11.11.2014, but for now there no any updates.
I think RnD don't want to implement this FR )))

Thank you!

Hi, EtherMAN!

But this only workaround.
Our Customers want normal solution with SNMP DDMI support.

Also there is a lot of times when Customer asking this befor bying Extreme switches, and negative answer forming a negative opinion.

Hi

Is the primary usecase for this capability is to track power levels and see if there is any degradation wrt performance of optics? Regarding the graph are your thoughts to export to Excel and graph it up?

We understand the benefit of this SNMP MIB, and currently evaluating this. Currently don't have target release number/date yet available. Will provide more details once this gets committed to a release.

Thanks
I like it !!! Motion in the Ocean  ... In my world of 6000 plus metro fiber links tracking the change in light levels over time is a basic part of trying to be pro-active about degradation of the fiber links. It also plays an important part in the restoration process as NOC can compare before and after splice to an graph that gets updated just like any other interface stats... Really dont care about anything but transmit and receive levels in db.... Thanks Extreme Team for looking into this as a future feature
