Hi,

you need to configure a log filter:

configure log filter DefaultFilter add events BGP.NeighborMgr.PeerEstTrans
configure log filter DefaultFilter add events BGP.NeighborMgr.PeerFSMDegrade

How do you get bgp to at least log up and down from neigh in the normal log ?

Do I have to configure a specific logfilter ? for these simple events ? I mean all failure state events should imho be logged to the local file.
Hi,

using the event
configure log filter DefaultFilter add events BGP.NeighborMgr.PeerEstTrans

You have the following log:

04/25/2016 07:58:52.96 [VR 2] Peer 40.0.0.10 (0) has entered or left Established state, EST? 0, holdtime: 180, passive: 0

The "EST?" parameter will tell you if this is a Up or Down event.
0 = down (leaving the established state)
1 = up (entering the established state)

Thank you.. no comes t he question why isn't this a default logfilter that is enabled when you enable BGP ? No other router I have worked with has this behaviour of NOT reporting in the local log.
