Does anyone notice that "show temperature" command on X440-G2-24x shows too high temperature. Some of the loaded with MGBICs switches can reach 90 Celsius, which I think is not acceptable. Firmware used in the switches is SummitX-22.3.1.4.

Hi,

I experienced some high-temp scenarios, but not in real time, I can just share with you that when the Switch detects a high-temp outside the acceptable values, it raises a warning in the log like this:

25-06-2018 11:46:01.66 Function pointer is not initialized. Caller: 0x42ef20 Parm1: 0x860a00 Parm2: 0x1
25-06-2018 11:46:01.66 Function pointer is not initialized. Caller: 0x42ef20 Parm1: 0x860a00 Parm2: 0x1
25-06-2018 11:46:01.66 Function pointer is not initialized. Caller: 0x42ef20 Parm1: 0x860a00 Parm2: 0x1
25-06-2018 11:46:01.58 Slot-2 FAILED (1) OverHeat
25-06-2018 11:46:01.58 NM: Old Primary's state is FAIL
25-06-2018 11:46:01.58 PRIMARY NODE (Slot-2) DOWN
25-06-2018 11:46:00.24 BACKUP is NOT in SYNC
25-06-2018 11:46:00.23 Node State[4] = FAIL (OverHeat)
25-06-2018 11:46:00.23 Environment warning reported. Setting Environment LED color to Amber
25-06-2018 11:46:00.23 Slot-1 FAILED (1)
25-06-2018 11:46:00.23 Slot-1: Temperature (73 C) above operating range (-10 to 55 Celsius) (X480-48t(SS128), P/N: 800273-00-13, S/N: 1346N-44186, Rev: 13.0)
25-06-2018 11:45:47.85 Temperature alarm for slot 1 temperature(C) 72 max 45 min 0
25-06-2018 11:45:34.16 Temperature alarm for slot 2 temperature(C) 68 max 45 min 0
25-06-2018 11:45:32.80 Temperature alarm for slot 1 temperature(C) 72 max 45 min 0
25-06-2018 11:45:19.22 Temperature alarm for slot 2 temperature(C) 67 max 45 min 0
25-06-2018 11:45:17.82 Temperature alarm for slot 1 temperature(C) 70 max 45 min 0
25-06-2018 11:45:04.18 Temperature alarm for slot 2 temperature(C) 65 max 45 min 0

You can check with the #show log command if some warning about temperature is raised.

When the system consider itself that the temperature is too high, it shuts down

This log was taken after a fire incident.

Normal operating temperature range for the X440-G2 as well as other second generation switches is 10-110 degrees Celsius and this is explained in the following KB article: https://gtacknowledge.extremenetworks.com/articles/Q_A/Normal-operating-temperature-range-for-a-Summit-x460-G2-24t
