Thanks Henrique, was planning for an upgrage and being told that it is necessary to do on both the partitions, so i was wondering. Just in case want to ask what could be cases where we want to upgrade both the partitions to newer versions at the same time.

And if we are not upgrading the partitions same time, and if we reboot it from non-upgraded partition wont it impact?
Some GA releases will erase configuration in switch.
Hi Ragunath, only these platforms support 15.7: BlackDiamond X8 and BlackDiamond 8800 series switches, Summit X770, X670, X670-G2, X480, X460, X460-G2, X440, and X430 series switches. E4G-200 and E4G-400 cell site routers. If you have one of them, I doubt there is a way of making a hitless upgrade from any 12.X release straight to 15.7. You can export your configuration to a TFTP server and import it back to your installation

Ragunath,

There should be no issue with upgrading from 12.4 directly to 15.7.

What model switch are we looking to upgrade from 12.4 to 15.7?
Hi Ragu,

Please check I/O & MSM Card EOL also before upgrade .
G48TA Line card & MSM G8X can not support version above 15.1.

if Line card & MSM is latest one than you can upgrade hitless from 12.4 to 15.7.
Hi Nitish, you don't need to upgrade both Primary and Secondary images.

For more information about the process you can check the Article below:
Hi Nitish, if you upgrade just one partition and the switch reboot with the old one (in case of wrong configuration), it will use the old image. Since there will be a "downgrade" from 15.x to 12.x that could cause some issue.

Even if it's not mandatory to have both partitions using the same version, it's recommended (at least after you assure the new image is working as expected).

You can upgrade just one partition and work with that new image for couple days and if no issue is seen, than they just upgrade the other partition. This will help to revert back to the old image in case of any issue.
