This types of tunnels is supported by XSR.

As I know in EXOS switches you can use L3-GRE and L2/L3-VPNs based on MPLS/VPLS network, also you can use VMAN (Q-in-Q) to make L2 tunnel through L3 network.

Maybe colleagues will correct me or add something...
Hello, Sharoz!

First of all - waht exactly VPN's do you need?
You can look here what L2VPN and L3VPN is supported by EXOS - https://kapost-files-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/kapost/55ba7c9e07003d9aab000394/studio/content/57dbfb2f33...
Then you can look at the configuration examples here - http://documentation.extremenetworks.com/exos_22.2/EXOS_21_1/Preface/c_introduction-ug.shtml

If you have older switches with older EXOS version you can find User Guides here - http://www.extremenetworks.com/support/documentation/

Thank you!

Hi Alex,

Its means we cann't do in EXOS directly ?

What about the XSR router ? I cann't find it in extreme network product portfolio.

Furthermore, can you share the link or document for configure the L3 GRE tunnel b/w extreme switches ??

Thanks
The XSR Routers have been discontinued and are no longer officially supported. I don't know of any features with native vpn protocols built into the code like ipsec on the product line, but I don't know the purple side very well.

if I'm not mistaken, XSR roters already in EoS.

About GRE:
Configuration - http://documentation.extremenetworks.com/exos/EXOS_21_1/IPUnicast/GRE-tunnel-example-configuration.s...
Limitation - https://gtacknowledge.extremenetworks.com/articles/Q_A/Does-EXOS-support-multicast-forwarding-over-G...

Earlier here is (in community) was post that GRE supported platforms is - X460, X460-G2 X480, X670, X670-G2 and X770
Sharoz, Extreme EXOS hardware is primarily a layer 2 switch with a lot of layer 3 possibilities and protocols supported. Typically most VPNS are between Site A and Site B and because they are across other folks networks you exchange keys and encrypt the date thus creating a secure VPN. Depends on what you are trying to do and use an Extreme product to in your network service model.. We are a large Metro Ethernet carrier with 1800 plus Extreme switches servicing MEF servie for all sorts of customers... We only use layer 2 vlans and QnQ vmans in all our Extreme switches. Of course we are only the transport connecting everyone and our job is not to change their packets or data but to get it from A to B, intact, in order, and with minimal jitter and latency so we don't provsion any VPN's.. We just encapsulate them and transport them...
