I have a customer who wants 10Gig copper with POE..

Is this ever going to be a possibility .. I know that there are two different ways of providing POE , specific pair or as a carrier.

Not really knowing how 10Gig works , I assume there is some modulation across all 4 pairs , this sort of stops both current scenario's

Currently I cannot find any Injectors or mid-span units that support 10Gig ...
If you dont mind me asking what device would require 10G???? 😕

Is all the devices require 10G or just a few but mainly a 10G link?

Sorry its not something I can talk about ... 🙂

Things are moving on and while we look at 1 gig for wireless etc currently, the next generation are looking at 10gig and the 40gig etc... 10 gig will not be just in the buildings ..we need it external as well..

So in the future , these devices maybe powered by a local mains powered transformer which requires some sort of enclosure which is IP rated against water etc. for external use, now if it was POE capable , then thats a complete different story.. Of course cat6 can only go internal for 100 meters max.. so thats another conundrum to pass.. Thanks for the question..
Hi Rod.

I am not sure how open I can share such information over the public forum as we are public company so publishing any new products does have some procedures and regulations. Please contact me directly via email. My email is zpala...

X460 is 1G access port portfolio = that is not the 10G access device.

Thx for understanding
