Hello, thank you for the detailed explanation. I found one other instance with this issue, and it looks like an HA failover was a temporary fix option, however the issue came back after a while. I’d recommend opening a technical support case so we can look in to this in more detail with you. If you could attach support data from the device to the case, that will help things along. You’ll want to recreate the issue first, then immediately pull the support data logs for us.

This guide reviews the different options available for getting support data: https://gtacknowledge.extremenetworks.com/articles/Solution/000019061

"application protocol error" returned for every show command on VDX 6740 NOS CLI

Hello Community,

I am a bit new to NOS. Hence, I am having a weird issue with a single VDX 6740 NOS switch running VCS technology. I can login without issues but whenever I type in any show command, I get the error message below.

NOS-SW-01# show running-config
Resources are temporarily unavailable, please try again later.
application protocol error
NOS-SW-01#

I can get into config mode successfully but I just cannot see the output of any show commands.

The switch is currently running on NOS 7.2.0 software.

NOS-SW-01:FID128:root> version
Kernel: 2.6.34.6

Network OS: 7.2.0d
Made on: Thu Nov 28 04:18:12 2019
Flash: Sat Feb 22 14:34:43 2020
BootProm: 1.0.1
NOS-SW-01:FID128:root>

As you can see, I had to log in with the root credentials to even get the software version because the “show version” command does not work.

Sincerely appreciate your assistance.

Thanks.
