SLX9640 when trying to add a vlan to a port , the system tells me that the port is not in switching

Hi , new to teh SLX platform , though looking at the cli adding a vlan to a port looked simple..

I keep getting that the port needs to be in switchingg mode. though I cannot find any information in how to perform ths on teh SLX9640 ..
