    <description>&lt;P&gt;VSP/VOSS is based on LINUX.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;BOSS/ERS is based on vxWorks.&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;The Syntax been VOSS(VSP) and BOSS(ERS) is about 90% similar.&amp;nbsp; You&amp;nbsp;can’t cut and paste an ERS config to a VSP config.&amp;nbsp; But the essentials are the exact same.&amp;nbsp; IP, VLAN, PORT CONFIG, TAGGING.&amp;nbsp; etc etc.&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;There are just some advance features like QoS,&amp;nbsp;Fabric commands, Show commands that are different.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Can someone explain me the difference between the OS used for the VSP and ERS series switches.&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;Are both the devices using same ?&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;Name of the OS used bu the VSP and ERS switches ?&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;EOS/EOL for the operating system used by the above devices ?&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;Any&amp;nbsp;vendor specific&amp;nbsp;Hardening/ Security guidelines ?&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;Thanks in advance &lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":slightly_smiling_face:"&gt;🙂&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;VSP devices run on VOSS (VSP Operating System Software) whereas ERS devices (4900/5900) runs on BOSS (Baystack Operating System Software) and no, they are not the same.       <description>&lt;P&gt;Yes ERS 4800 also runs on BOSS but the software is different as compared to ERS49/5900&lt;/P&gt;</description>
