Hi,

I am running Voss 8.0 in a 7400 VSP (no FABRIC) and I NEED to assign multiple IP Address to the same interface (one primary IP adddress and several secondary IP addresses). Found out that this scenario is not supported. Does any one aware of a workaround to acomplish this?

Thanks a lot in Advance

Jorge Villarreal

correct.
This is called “multi-netting” and to the best of my knowledge, and as you have experienced, it is not supported.
As for a workaround, one of my peers or colleagues would have to step in

are you working with one or two vsp switches ?

Thanks Paul. One switch. I even tried to configure vrrp in the interfaces I need to have secondary IP addresses but the vrrp ip address has to be in the same subnet as the primary address so it is not useful for me either

Jorge,

If it is temporary you could always use the very, very, very ugly bridging of two VLANs using a patch cord and two untagged interfaces.

NOT RECOMMENDED, TEMPORARY and WITH A LOT OF CAUTION…

Mig
