topic In the VSP7200/7400 series switches, when 10GBASE-T Copper Transceiver is populated at one port, does the adjacent port get disabled? in ExtremeSwitching (VSP/Fabric Engine)

As in EXOS switches, when 10GBASE-T Copper Transceiver is populated to a port, the very next port (adjacent port) gets disabled.

Likewise, Whenever VSP7200/7400 switches (SFP+ compatible models in particular) are populated with 10GBASE-T Copper Transceivers, do the adjacent ports get disabled?

For example: In a VSP7200 - 48 SFP+ ports, can we populate 20 x 10GBASE-T Copper Transceivers and 20 x 10G SFP+ MMF Transceivers at the same time?

Viththahan,

The VSP will not disable adjacent port BUT YOU SHOULD NOT USE THEM!!!

The main reason is the energy consumption of those SFP+-UTP.

They need to dissipate too much heat to be able to use the adjacent ports.

You can use 1-4-5 for example but not the port at the left-right-above-below.

Mig
