topic Universal 5320 NOS VOSS Not Support vIST, alternatives in ExtremeSwitching (VSP/Fabric Engine)

Hi,

Working with a customer that purchased 5320's, but would like to use SMLT.

Unfortunately the 5320's do not support vIST!

So looking at what my options might be, those I can only think of is:

Disable the following flag for simplified vIST "no boot config flags spbm-config-mode" - not sure it recommended though or would work?

Possible boot into EXOS and use MLAG

The switches where purchased for internet facing front end switches, so hardly any feature set is required, which the model price point perhaps warrants it as a fair selection - guessing that was the reasoning behind it and port options. The exception in this case is that the firewalls attaching to them would make sense to utilise SMLT.

Not having the ability to use vIST and the fact there is no OOB management port is another consideration for use as front-end switches. Although utilising segmented management, inside a PVLAN to a specified port for management is what I ended up configuring, so on principle seems safe enough. ISIS was also configured with no CLIP.

So just making this post to see if anyone had any other ideas / options for the case example.

Many thanks in advance
