Hoping someone can confirm or clarify the uses for the 2 QSFP28 ports on the front of the VSP5520 switches. From what I’m reading, those ports are basically unusable when using VOSS in fabric mode.

Correct. The 5520s running VOSS can use the 40ge ports for i/o. However if you turn on SPBM you do lose the ports.

It is mentioned in the factsheets.

Is there the possibility that the ports will be usable with SPBM in the future?

Yes you were. But if you turning on VOSS mode you are turning on SPBm.

I only have one customer that uses VSPs as normal switches. one!!!!!!. Everyone else turns on Fabric.

to the best of my knowledge, no.

The asic for the two posts is consumed for SPBm functions.

With release 8.4.2 we are planning on providing an option where you can either use the VIM ports or the built in ports. If a VIM is inserted, the built in ports won’t be usable.
