After an upgrade of my V4110 from 09.15.05 to V9.21.04 i have problems with Intel 6205 WLAN Clients in 5GHz and AP3825! Either the Client cannot connect to WLAN SSID (in 5GHz) OR it will work fine first but after 3-4 hours the ping latency will increase to 800/900ms. On good days all work fine. Within 2,4 GHz no/never problem occurs. We have the same problem with 9.01.x and 9.12. With 9.15.x the problem never occur / disappear. Now with 9.21 it seems that we have the problem again. WLAN client driver are up to date!

How can i troubleshoot this issue ? Are there any useful log or debug command at EWC ? Is it possible to get a troubleshooting from client site ?

Regards
Hello Matthias,

There are a few things you can do...

1. I would open a ticket with the GTAC so we can get everything documented and start data collection.

2. You can get wifi traces from an access point (in this case I would suggest using a spare ap near the problematic one) during the time of a failiure- https://gtacknowledge.extremenetworks.com/articles/How_To/Using-Real-Capture-to-capture-wireless-tra...

3. I would collect the AP trace file from the suspect ap during the time of failure - https://gtacknowledge.extremenetworks.com/articles/How_To/How-to-Collect-Access-Point-Logging-Inform...

4. Generate a Tech Support and note the WLAN-Service you were attached and user Role applied to the client during the issue. - https://gtacknowledge.extremenetworks.com/articles/How_To/How-to-Collect-a-Tech-Support-File-From-a-...
Hello Matthias,

we experience the same problem. Not only with Intel 6205 but also with Intel 7260 network adapters.
I think the network adapter is scanning for other wireless networks (leaving WiFi channel) and therefore ping response times increase. But I see that problem in both frequency bands and also with version 8 controller code.
Hello Matthias,

do all of you Pings have response times of 800+ msec or only some of them?

For us it looks like that:
Reply from 192.168.0.14: bytes=1500 time=3ms TTL=125
Reply from 192.168.0.14: bytes=1500 time=4ms TTL=125
Reply from 192.168.0.14: bytes=1500 time=4ms TTL=125
Reply from 192.168.0.14: bytes=1500 time=268ms TTL=125
Reply from 192.168.0.14: bytes=1500 time=381ms TTL=125
Request timed out.
Reply from 192.168.0.14: bytes=1500 time=2ms TTL=125
Reply from 192.168.0.14: bytes=1500 time=3ms TTL=125
Reply from 192.168.0.14: bytes=1500 time=3ms TTL=125

Most of the ping response times are very low <10ms but from time to time 4-5 Pings have very high response time (several hundred msec). For some clients that happens every 30-90 seconds.

I see no relation between 2,4 and 5 GHz band, problem appears in both bands.

Which drivers do you use with your Intel 6205 cards?
A current view regarding this issue:
To solve the problem we have a GTAC case open. We do several Firmware updates in the V9.21 version track! Currently we use V9.21.07 and the problem does not appear the last 2-3 weeks.

It seems that these last V9.21.x Firmware versions are more stable than the first one one of V9.21.x.

Regarding to the WLAN card driver - check version and use the lastest (often the windows guys install the first one they can grab - regardsless to bugs or software quality)!
Hello Matthias, sorry to resurrect a thread this old. But I am curious to know if you ever completely solved this issue, or if you are still having trouble.

I too am having a lot of problems, namely with Intel branded Dual Band N-XXXX wireless on HP tablets. Your issue seems nightmarishly familiar. Doesn't seem to matter which Intel card it is. Also, while Googling around I found a lot of unhappy users ("we will sue you", "I will eat your first born", etc) in the Intel community forums with dropping issues. None of them are running any of the same AP's or wireless routers. And a lot of them "fixed it" by installing a different NIC! I am getting some relief by disabling all by b/g bands.

I have a long running thread here if you were interested or wanted to commiserate.
I was able to resolve my connectivity issues with some assistance from support. I believe that my issues were caused by channel overlap, and a lot of radios that were all turned up too high. You can read about it in this thread.
