topic AP305C and virtualized SophosXG - question about AP management in ExtremeWireless (Identifi)

Currently I have got the following setup at home:

A server has got two RJ45 ports, one is connected to the internet (ONT), another one is connected to a managed switch (Buffalo). The server runs ESXi and has got a Sophos XG inside. I have got VLAN groups configured in the ESXi and in Sophos XG. Everything works fine.

Now I would like to buy the AP305C and connect it to my managed switch in order to be able to connect to my LAN via WiFi.

Is it possible just like that? I don’t want to have to buy any wireless controller like this would be the case with some Aruba access points. I just want to plug it in to the switch, configure it and use it. Do I need any appliance, license or something like that for it? In Aruba world that would be an “autonomous Instant AP“.

Podkad,

The “C” in the AP model means “C”loud managed.

Go here https://www.extremenetworks.com/cloud-networking/ to create an “ExtremeCloudIQ Connect” subscription to manage it for free

Obviously, the AP has to have an Internet access for the configuration.

Mig
