topic DHCP for wireless clients only with DynamicVC in ExtremeWireless (WiNG)

Hello community,

I want to use internal DHCP server for wireless clients only with DynamicVC WING 5.9.1+ AP7532 without trunk on ethernet side for IP conflits prevention. I want make the wireless clients to work with MY DHCP range that differ from IP range of the clients infrastructure. It's doable ?

If yes, I have questions:

In order to do that I must set up routing of all the traffic trought DynamicVC ?

Somehow I need to block DHCP responses of the customer's DHCP server coming from ethernet side to the AP's GE1 and to the wireless clients ?

What is happening with the traffic in case of failure of main DynamicVC or when it's up&down from time to time beacase of ethernet issue for example when is router? How many time is taking to clients to connect thought alternative DynamicVC ?

Thanks in advance,
Hi,

what do you mean with DynamicVC? Virtuell Controller?

You'll create different IP ranges on the same VLAN for LAN and WIFI clients? -> you can do this maybe with DHCP fingerprint (based on client type on booth sides) or with firewall rules on the GE interface (you need to test).

Hi Timo,

I mean DynamicVC not the regular VC.

This is a new feature added in WING 5.9

Hi Aviv,

The discribed solution would not be doable.
Clients would not seamlessly roam and as you noted you would need each AP trunked to avoid IP mac conflicts (Because of the multiple DHCP servers).
If you are unable to trunk on the L2 switched the APS are plugged into you will need a Wireless controller that supports tunneling.
