Hello!

You have both possibilities, there are HW appliances just running ADSP and you also can run them on a VM with the necessary resources. It depends on the deployment to allocate the necessary resources. You can find the installation guide on the following link:

http://documentation.extremenetworks.com/ExtremeWireless/VIRTUAL_ADSP_IG_72E-172533-01_REVB_EN.pdf

If you have any further question let us know!

Kind regards,

Hi Daniel,

Thank you so much. So with the newest version of ADSP (9.3), does ADSP available for run in VM and part number for product SKUs?

What are appliances recently available for ADSP?

Hi Son,

system-wise we do not distinguish hardware appliance and VM running the same code. All you need to do is to provide sufficient resources and use appliance license.

In the end of the day it goes the same way like VX9k - to have the VM running you need to buy license.

You can use "all" WiNG access points as sensor. But you can't install ADSP on a RFS or small NX. I think only the NX9xxx supports ADSP, but VM is preferred!

The ADSP 9.0.3 release introduced support for virtual platforms, so the AirDefense Server can also be installed on non-AirDefense appliances.

Note that the Appliance support will continue and the virtualization enables additional flexibility for customers deploying ADSP systems. Customers who want to install AirDefense Sever on their virtual platform must purchase the following ADSP base platform license and associated support contract.

Part# SP-SWSV-P-1 - AirDefense ADSP Server Software License for Primary Server.
Dear Bin Han,

Does the note " AP 7522, AP 7532, AP 7562 radios are band-locked, both radios are required for sensing" mean these APs can not send/receive client data when they are used as a dedicated sensor?
That's right, as full time sensor the APs can't provide any client access.

In this case you should use the AP8533. Or maybe the AP8432 and just use 5 GHz for client access.
you can check the Release Notes under "8. ADSP Feature Matrix". You can also use other APs, but the feature sets are different between the access points.
