I have an AP732-67040-WR, The controller see's it fine but the AP LED's are just on, So I know this is invaild country code, Via the CLI I see the following

"error setting country of operation. gb [United Kingdom] not supported on hardware model AP-7532-67040-WR"

It will work under generic 1 -g1 or the others upto g7
What is g1 etc in comparrison to when an AP is set to GB [ United Kingdom ]

To be in compliance with you local regulations, only set the Country Code that matches your region.

Do not utilize the GENERIC X. It may work, but the resultant allowed power and channels may put you in violation of your GB regulations

WR will not accept GB, I only have two of the WR unit, using smart RF, which county is best to use that is same as the UK of very close ? this is output from

Hello Phil,

The correct SKU for the UK is AP-7532-xxxxx-EU and not WR.

Per the PMB:

AP-xxxx-xxxxx-EU:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom

Due to regulatory restrictions and requirement, you should not be using an AP in a country it is not designated for

Hi Phil,

the issue here is that there are different regulatory domains - FCC for US, ETSI for EU, ANATEL for Brazil and so on..

In order to follow these regulations we load different driver versions, resp. power tables, to each SKU. US for US and Canada following FCC, EU for Europe countries following ETSI and WR is ready for "rest of word" combining ANATEL etc.

When you use WR with EU country code it obviously does not work due missing power tables. If you use WR with matching country code, you will most probably end up with DFS - TPC incompliancy which might bring you into legal problems.
Such AP won't follow local radar detection / avoidance mechanism and will most probably interfere a lot with neighboring WiFi installations.

Not something we could ever recommend or support.

Select only the country in which you are using the device. Any other selection will make the operation of this device illegal. Some Access Points are specifically designed to operate in certain countries (Example; -US for the United States, -EU for the European Union).

I would suggest upgrading to 5.9.0 because the release notes state: "WiNG 5.9.0 enables support to configure EU country codes on WR SKU. Downgrading the same device to pre WiNG 5.9.0 release software doesn’t support EU country codes."

You must have access to un released version of sw, Also if 5.9 was available it would/could caues problems, I see that there is 5.8.6 avalaiable for the 7532 / 71xx / RFS4000 and 6000 but not for the RFS7000, Is there a plan to release this version 5.8.6 and 5.9 for the RFS7k ?

When is 5.9 going to be released ? or is 5.9 for the VX/NX

Hi Phil,
WING 5.9 is released in June and available also for VX9000, NX.
As far as I know, RFS7000 is will not have 5.9, as AP71XX.

This is sort of on the same subject, I have an AP 7532 the Sticker on the back shows it as an EU model PN:7532I-67030-EU, But when it connects to the RFS is shows it as AP7532-67030- WR

The MAC address on the sticker matches the reported MAC in the RFS, Is there away to correct this?

I have the answer now to this, Its down to the fact I'm running wing 5.8.5, and the older code supports North America / WR & EU but under the new code its North America & WR which includes the UK, So symbol days 2 SKU's , Motorola 3 SKU's, and now under Extreme new code back to 2 sku's.
