Hi,

Will these cables shown below work with the AP-310e as a console cable?

Will this USB-to-RJ45 console cable work with the AP-310e console port? Can Putty be on the Win10 laptop and connect to the AP with just the cable?

Will this DB9-to-RJ45 console cable work with the AP-310e console port? Can Putty be on the Win10 laptop and connect to the AP through a USB-to-serial adapter, then through the DB9-to-RJ45 cable to the AP console port?

Hi there, thanks for your detailed question here. We haven't tested with these specific console cables per se, but any RJ45 console cable that is compatible with a Cisco switch should also be compatible with the AP310 model.

To answer your other questions, you can have putty on a Windows 10 laptop and connect directly to an AP via a console cable. I'm not positive about the DB9-RJ45 converter, but as long as we're connecting to the AP with an RJ45 cable I believe you should be good to go. Hope that helps!!

I use a USB > DB9 converter (from Keyspan) from Windows 10/11 laptops using DB9 > RJ45 to Wing APs, with no issues. As Sam detailed, most Cisco console cables are null-modem and should work with our Wing APs (I have several old Cisco DB9 > RJ45 cables in the lab, which work on the Wing APs, with no issues).
