I have followed the procedure to reset an old 7131 to factory default (mainly because no one can remember the admin password) but it doesn’t seem to wipe the config or reset the password.

Please press Enter to activate this console.
ap7131-5C1C6C-Sales login: reset
!!WARNING!!: Logging in as 'reset' will clear all configuration and user data under "flash:" and reboot the system.

Rob, try resetting it this way.

Log in and enable

Enter: erase startup-config

Enter: commit write

Enter: reload

After this, if you see a prompt asking if you want to save any changes, make sure to answer NO at this point. This SHOULD wipe out the config and reset the AP back to its default settings.

Hello Rob,

Make sure the AP is completely segregated from the network. Use a power injector or a switch not connected to or talking to any other WiNG device then use the console reset/FactoryDefault or delete startup-config procedure mentioned by my colleagues.

Cheers,

Christoph

I know this is an old post but I'm replaying because I've run into a similar issue and this is one of the first results on Google.

I couldn't log in into the admin account with the default password "motorola". Turns out that for AP's with os version 5.7 and later the default password was changed to "admin123". Posting this here for anyone else who runs into this issue.

Hi Rob,

I checked on a AP7131 with firmware version 5.8.2.0-030R and the default login was working fine when using "admin" as the user
and "admin123" as the password.

Best regards,
Angelo
