If you have an external antenna model 7662, then there are no internal antennas to add to.

My question is whether to place an external antenna if it cancels the internal gain of the AP.

If you are able to attach external antennas, then that means there are NO internal antennas to being with. Therefore, there is no gain to add to.

If you have a 7662 with internal antennas, then you cannot attach external antennas, and once again, there is no gain to add to the internal antennas.
