DFE Upgrade Fails with 'Write error occurred!' error

Symptoms
Cannot copy new firmware file to DFE system
"Error: Write error occurred!"

Cause
There is insufficient room in Flash to store the new image.

With the earliest firmware releases, up to four images could be stored at one time. With current image sizes, there is sufficient room for up to two images at a time. This is all dependent on the total storage size of any user configurations also stored on Flash.

Firmware release notes since version 3.11.04, including latest version 5.13.02, contain this item in the 'Known Restrictions and Limitations' section:
"The system should always have enough memory to accommodate two images. Users should not load more than two images in a system. If an image download fails, and more than one image is stored in the file system, remove an image and retry the download. The 'dir' command does not show the available free memory and failure messages aren't specific enough to determine if this is the cause of the failure. This will be corrected in a future release."

Solution
As demonstrated above, delete the non-Active firmware image, then try the upgrade again.

It may also be helpful to do some directory house-cleaning if the non-firmware files are numerous and/or extremely large.
