Article ID: 9901

Products
DFE, firmware 5.41.25 through 6.02.05.0001
7G-6MGBIC-B
7G-6MGBIC-A
7G-6MGBIC

Changes
Swapped one 7G-6MGBIC model for another.

Symptoms
Configurations for the host blade's chassis slot dropped back to defaults.

Cause
Since the introduction of the 7G-6MGBIC-B (firmware 5.41.25), the system considers it to be a distinct device type from the 7G-6MGBIC-A and 7G-6MGBIC, triggering the logic described in 5037 if a "-B" model is swapped for one of the earlier models or vice versa.

The 7G-6MGBIC-B, 7G-6MGBIC-A, and 7G-6MGBIC are largely similar in function (12780) and have the same port count, with one difference being that the 7GMGBIC-B supports both 1000MB MGBICs and 100MB MGBICs.

Solution
Upgrade to firmware 6.11.01.0040 or higher.

Pre-upgrade workaround: Follow the suggestions as stated in the Solution section of 5037.
