If a blade fails to boot at any time and a red CPU LED is presented, it may not be advisable to attempt to reset and get a green CPU LED without further troubleshooting the root cause of that issue. For that purpose one can gather a log from the blade as long as it has a corresponding COM or USB port.

Here is the procedure:

Set up a local console connection. [S (12453), N (5130), K (5130)] Manually reset the module - either via the reset button or by re-insertion of the blade into the chassis. After reset, monitor the progress of the boot cycle. Timing here is crucial. After the boot image is uncompressed, and the"Press any key to enter System Image Loader menu" message displays, you will have only a few seconds to press any of the keyboard keys to enter the System Image Loader menu, before the blade otherwise attempts to continue booting.Boot ROM Initialization, Version 01.01.05
