Matrix N-Series DFE

Goals
Determine the serial number of a chassis, power supply, switch module, NEM, 10GBASE, or MGBIC; for RMA or documentation purposes.

Solution
Serial numbers may be viewed in two general formats:
12 digits (standard serial number) or
16 digits (4 digits for the "Top Level" part#, plus 12 digits for the standard serial number).

The serial number of a chassis (e.g. 7C107) may be found as

16 digits on the white sticker located on the lower right front (viewable while installed) (5594).

The serial number of a power supply (e.g. 6C207-3) may be found as

16 digits on the white sticker located on the rear (viewable while installed).

The serial number of a switch module (e.g. 7H4382-49) may be found as

16 digits on the white sticker located on the top locking tab (viewable while installed).

12 digits in the output of a 'show version' query.

12 digits in the output of a 'show system hardware' query.

12 digits in the Fault Log visible via a 'show support' query or by means of ATG Tools (5101).

12 digits via an SNMP query to MIB branch entPhysicalSerialNum = 1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.11 (5594).

The serial number of a NEM (e.g. 7G-6MGBIC-B) may be found as

16 digits on the white sticker located on the circuit board.

The serial number of a 10GBASE (e.g. 10GBASE-SR-XFP) (5504) may be found as

16 digits on the white sticker located on the side of the unit.

The serial number of a MGBIC (e.g. MGBIC-MT01) (5591) may be found as

16 digits on the white sticker located on the side of the unit.
