Cause
DFE firmware prior to version 5.12.02 (5.11.29 and lower) has an issue that prevents individual blades from operating for more than 497 days. This is due to processing of the 32-bit
code:
sysuptime

counter, which wraps after 497 days.

The Fault Log (5101) of a unit experiencing this issue will contain one or more messages similar to:

code:
2006-01-04,21:43:28.00

code:
Syslog Message

code:
04.05.07

<
code:
1

>
code:
PTimer[4.tGvrpTic]pTimerTask previous stamp.-18

 >
code:
current stamp.2

These messages are all part of one reset event. The key wording of interest is "
code:
pTimerTask previous stamp

". The task (
code:
tGvrpTic

in this case) and stamp values will vary.

DFE firmware prior to version 5.11.21 (5.01.67 and lower) may experience additional issues after a blade resets due to the counter wrap, leading to further resets of the same type, and requiring the entire system to be user-reset to restore proper operation of the system.

Solution
Upgrade to firmware 5.12.02 or higher.

Pre-upgrade workaround:
Systems approaching 497 days of uptime may be preemptively reset using the '
code:
reset system

' CLI command.
