Symptoms
Received an error message in the CLI:

code:
Exceeded maximum size allowed for all configuration scripts. Please delete existing script and try again.

-or-
Received an error message in the Inventory Manager log:

code:
Device Reported - Exceeded maximum size allowed for all configuration scripts.

Cause
The operation would generate a file too large for the space available in the system's
code:
configs

directory.

Solution/Workaround
There are two likely resolutions to this issue:
If the "
all
" option is being used ('
show config all outfile configs/
<
filename
>
.cfg
'), omit that parameter. The "
all
" and "
outfile
" options when used together can generate a very large file, especially on systems - such as stacks - with a high port count. For this reason the "
all
" and "
outfile
" options are not supported together (Functions as Designed - FAD), though the operation may under ideal circumstances complete without error. Use the '
show system utilization storage
' command to view the utilization for "
Flash Images, Config, Other
" files, then use the '
dir
' command to view the files stored in the
configs
directory, then delete any extra/unneeded configuration files ('
delete configs/
<
filename
>
.cfg
'). Repeat as desired.
If they don't resolve the problem, then note that this symptom may also occur as a C5/B5 firmware 6.41.01.0022 issue, in conjunction with Inventory Manager use. The fix is as of firmware 6.41.02.0007, but it is strongly recommended to upgrade to the latest available firmware version (13325).
