Hello guys,

I would like to connect two switches stack and configure they like a NFS or VSS like cisco devices, to provide more redundancy if one member fail all traffic, RIB, mac-table and so on will be forwarded to another member, its possible do it with extreme switch?

Tavares,

You can stack up to 8 XOS switches. This allows for a master/backup and all traffic can/will be forwarded in case of failure. You can find more information in the XOS Users guide here: http://documentation.extremenetworks.com/exos/EXOS_All/Stacking/configuring-stacked-switches.shtml

But its possible manage two independent and diferents stacks? My costumer have two stacks separately look the pic pls.

You cannot configure two stacks together, they would be two separate control/data planes. We do have a solution called MLAG that would allow for the same solution but the configuration is separate, the details are here: http://documentation.extremenetworks.com/exos/EXOS_All/Slots_and_Ports/c_blackdiamond-x8-series-swit...

Yes VSB (Very similar to VSS) can be done with S Series (EOS Operating System) and MLAG is done with XOS (Legacy purple products..).

Hum i see, however my costumer decided to manage two stacks switchs as if they were just a one... If i configure MLAG i cant do it correct?

MLAG would let you take the two stacks and they would act as one, but you have to configure as two separate switches.

OK, I got it,

But let's say if I want to configure a vlan on one of the equipment, the configuration is replicated to the other switch stack automatcally?

If you enable MVRP where the VLAN can dynamically create and tear down (similar to GVRP). So the answer is yes you can automate the configuration either with that or with some minimal scripting or using Netsight management.

VSB is a good solution, one config one IP ,i have 3 customer they choice VSB to depoly thier network. the distance with two core is 250M.
