Hello

I have a stack with 2 x460-48t switches. I have a third switch on the bench that I want to configure as a spare. All three of the switches have version 15.3.3.5 patch1-10. I'm trying to place the active configuration on the spare, but it always reboots to the default configuration. I was able to TFTP the file to the spare switch, and I go through the process of "use conf xxxxx" but after it reboots it's always on the default config. I'm not unfamiliar with Extreme switches, and have been able to move configurations to other switches without problem, but this is the only stack that I have. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks a lot
Hi Justin,
When you TFTP the file to the switch and "use config xxxxx" are you answering "Yes" to the "do you want to save the config" question that pops up when you reboot?
If you're saying yes there, you're overwriting the config with the default/blank one.

If you're sure you're not saving over the new config, there's some other things we'll take a look at.

I thought I said no on that question, let me retry and report back. Thanks for the quick response
The other thing that may be happening here is that your bench switch can't load the config created with stacking. You'll need to configure your spare as a single node stack with an imaginary second slot. That will allow you to load and configure a configuration created with stacking enabled.

I answered no to "save changes before reboot" and it still reboots to default settings. It goes through the disable telnet, snmp, and turn off unused ports questions that you see with a default switch during the first boot.
