https://community.extremenetworks.com/t5/technical-discussions/will-my-router-work/m-p/68690#M11 ok so im a Cumputer Science major at my university and I haven't seen any specific rules about adding my own router so I wanted to know if I could use a standard home router and plug it in to my schools wifi via ethernet. i know routers make there own network so I'm wondering if the new network created by the router not work the default IP octet the router uses is 192.168.1.x with a subnet of 255.255.255.0 while the school uses 156.12.x.x with a subnet mask of 255.255.248.0 the router will get it's IP address by DHCP but will the devices I connect to the router work?
