Different between HiveManager NG, Connect and Select.

Different between HiveManager NG, Connect and Select.

Hi,

We are operating HiveManager Classic online and NG online versions of HiveManager.

My question is about NG version. Is it approaching end of life soon. How is it different to Connect or Select HiveManager.

If it is the same how do we know what version we are operating. If different then how can we upgrade to Connect or Select. What are the basic differences or similarities.

Are they only public cloud based. Is there a document providing comparisons , features, limitations and upgrade path between them.

HiveManager Connect is the free, limited version of HiveManager. It is free to use for life (never requires an entitlement key, so the only cost is the initial hardware purchase) but it doesn't include some of the more advanced enterprise level networking features or some of the troubleshooting options that Select offers. HiveManager Select is the paid, full featured version of HiveManager that does require an entitlement key to continue using that platform. HiveManager Connect is only available online, HiveManager Select has both a cloud and an on premises version available.

This page has a good comparison of features: https://idency.com/aerohive-hivemanager-ng-select-and-connect/

This guide will walk you through how to tell which one is in use: https://thehivecommunity.aerohive.com/s/article/Which-HiveManager-Platform-am-I-using

You can sign up for a free 30 day trial of Select at cloud.aerohive.com. You can also register for a Connect instance at the same site, so you can see exactly what is offered by each platform before you decide to move. You can transfer your entitlement keys from Classic to Select, so you shouldn't have to purchase anything new to migrate over if you choose to use the paid version.

Classic is a legacy product that will not be receiving any new features or major updates, but we don't have an end of life/support date set for it yet. HiveManager (Select or Connect) is not approaching end of life and is our main platform moving forward.

If you choose to use Connect to begin with and then decide to upgrade to Select, all you would need is an entitlement key and it will convert your existing Connect instance in to a Select instance. This is a one-way change though, it is not possible to convert a Select instance in to a Connect instance.

This guide reviews how to register for Connect: https://thehivecommunity.aerohive.com/s/article/Registering-for-HiveManager-Connect

Connect will support any number of devices, the inventory doesn't have a limit.

Where can I register for a HiveManager Connect free login? I can't seem to find it since the Extreme networks home page redesign.

How many access points does it support?
