ExtremecloudIQ and map

Hello
It is mandatory to put APs in "places" (floors, buildings, maps, etc), with the possibility to upload real floor plans.

Is it important to use real maps and the right scale to place APs ? I mean, is that information really used in roaming decision or some other process in cloudIQ, or is it just for users' eyes?
Thanks

Hello Benoit, the maps aren't used when the APs make roaming decisions or any other active process. For those kinds of processes the AP will rely on information picked up from background scans, which can be seen in the tech data file for your AP. The maps are more for you to manage your deployment, so we can avoid signal overlap and still cover your entire space with a working signal. If you can upload an accurate floor plan and scale it, that'll help with deployment and some potential troubleshooting, but it won't affect the AP function or traffic flow. Hope that helps!
