Licencia Advance Edge

Licencia Advance Edge

Slot-1 Stack26 # show licenses slot 1
Enabled License Level:
Edge
Enabled Feature Packs:
DirectAttach,Dual 10G Uplink
Effective License Level:
Edge

Gracias.

Hola Edwin,

Some important general notes:
1) Each switch in a stack holds it's own licenses.

-When running 'show license' or 'enable license <key>' commands, those only check the slot that you are currently connected to as indicated by the slot number in your CLI prompt.

-You can move between slots in a stack via a telnet CLI command (does not require telnet to be enabled), which will allow you to verify/enable licenses on any specific slot.
telnet slot <#>

2) All master-capable slots need to have the same licenses enabled at the same time, otherwise one of the master-capable slots may fail.

If you want to add a new license to an existing stack, you can follow this procedure:
https://extremeportal.force.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000081351

The recommendation is as follows:
1) Place a restriction on all master-capable slots to limit them to the CURRENT license level (edge). This is needed so that when you enable the higher license level (adv. edge) on one switch, the other does not fail due to a license mismatch. Note that this requires a reboot of each master-capable slot to take effect.

configure stacking license-level <current license>
reboot

2) Enable the new license on all master-capable slots

telnet slot <#>
enable license <key>

3) Remove the license-level restriction, which requires another reboot to take effect:
unconfigure stacking license-level
reboot

I hope that is helpful!

Hola Edwin,

Yes, you would have a problem if you loaded a license on a master-capable slot and the stack license-level restriction were not in place. If you were to load a new license on the master slot, it would instantly have a license mis-match with the backup and the stack would fail leading to all sorts of problems.

Note that licenses do not require a reboot to take effect, they happen instantly and will cause a license mismatch instantly after enabling the license. So you need to enable the stack license-level restriction first (which itself requires a reboot to take effect)

I hope that helps!
