AP7131 factory reset

AP7131 factory reset

RobCrooks

I have followed the procedure to reset an old 7131 to factory default (mainly because no one can remember the admin password) but it doesn’t seem to wipe the config or reset the password.

Please press Enter to activate this console.

even the AP name seems to be the same, and none of the default admin password work.

I can’t find any references to the 7131 with 5.8.2 as having any specific problems with the factory reset procedure.

Has anyone else encountered this?

Hello Rob,

Make sure the AP is completely segregated from the network. Use a power injector or a switch not connected to or talking to any other WiNG device then use the console reset/FactoryDefault or delete startup-config procedure mentioned by my colleagues.

Cheers,

Christoph

Rob,

Just making sure you used a serial connection when you attempted to reset the AP with "reset" username and "FactoryDefault" password combo.

If nothing else works, use AP Discovery Tool to discover and reset the AP, you can download it from the support portal under WiNG AP firmware section.

Rob, try resetting it this way.

Log in and enable

Enter: erase startup-config

Enter: commit write

Enter: reload

After this, if you see a prompt asking if you want to save any changes, make sure to answer NO at this point. This SHOULD wipe out the config and reset the AP back to its default settings.
