DHCP Failure detected - major event Shown on NSight Event list for AP410

Hi Team,

We Have VX9000 & AP410 deployed with WiNG 7.5.1 and separate NSight server as well.

Facing issue where client connection jumps across two APs nearby due to which the client facing intermittent connect disconnect time to time. To troubleshoot this we came across below events on APs from the NSight. The Controller, AP & Clients under same subnet & VLAN i.e default VLAN1.

Severity Category Alarm Name Description Recurrence Count Source Hostname
"Major " "Network " "DHCP Failure " "DHCP Failure detected on vlan 1 total 148 failures in 5 minutes "23 " "ap410 " "AP410-E10 "
"Major " "Network " "DHCP Failure " "DHCP Failure detected on vlan 1 total 132 failures in 5 minutes "10 " "ap410 " "AP410-E6 "
"Major " "Network " "DHCP Failure " "DHCP Failure detected on vlan 1 total 125 failures in 5 minutes "7 " "ap410 " "AP410-E23 "

There is no DHCP issue for client connections as such, & the DHCP is configured on the core switch.

Can someone please explain what are these error events and how to fix. Also pls suggest for the client jump issues/sticky client issue

Thanks

Morning Jeet,

By default --- "DHCP failure" Alarm will be triggered if we detect 3 failures within 1 minute and will be cleared if we detect 1 success within 1 minute after trigger.

If you are seeing multiple alarms for DHCP failure we wound need to see some sample examples of the a few alarms so we can see if its different clients or the same client causing the issues. Nsight will show the mac of the device experiencing the failures.

Note:
If you network is running as expected you might want to try modify the criteria for what triggers the alarm.

In regards to your sticky client please see below:

I would advise opening up a separate topic to get that issue addressed.
