I would like to know which series of extreme switch support L2GRE traffic for below deployment case. The use case is like this,

Wi-Fi Access Points ------Internet Cloud --------------Core Network

We need take user traffic from AP WLAN and tunnel to Core Network over internet

Access Points supports L2GRE to carry WLAN or VLAN traffic.

1. Need to know which extreme switch we can confider for L2GRE

2. Does it support concentrator mode i.e can it take traffic from multiple Access Points

3. We will be using around 1000 Access Points

4. All the Access Points will carry same or different VLAN traffic

Hi,

the Extreme S-Series supports L2GRE tunnels. You would need to check the data sheet, but I do not expect it to support 1000 tunnels.

Thank you. I checked the S series Data Sheet found that it supports Virtual Private Port Service (GRE with layer 2)”.

But the data sheet  doesn't talk about the numbers.  If anyone knows it will be helpful for us.

Hi,

the firmware release notes contain the numbers. The S-Series supports up to 62 tunnels.

Hi

Another option to look at is to deploy an extreme wireless solution. On the comtroller you can connect one interface directly to the internet. Configure it with a live ip and only enable Ap discovery.

For your remote ap's configure the controller to point to the live ip.

Once the aps are registered on the controller configure a vns that bridges traffic at the controller.
Your capwap tunnel will securely transport user traffic in a tunnel to thw core

Thank you! The AP does not support CAPWAP protocol.  I need to have L2GRE between AP and Extreme device.
