e.g.: WS-C35 (Marketing # 30135; Shipping Part Number: 908302-10)
The answer is yes they are all related. The marketing # is used for ordering by disti, Partners, and customers. Services for each platform map directly to this number...for example 9XXXX-30135. The WS-C35 is the short description / model name which is easier to remember (e.g., WS=Wireless, C=Controller, AP=Access Point, AI=Antenna Indoor, AO=Antenna Outdoor, etc.). The Shipping Number that we call a 908 number internally is what Extreme Network Supply Chain (SCM) uses to order the part from our manufacturer(s).
Having said that, some products that came over from previous acquisitions (e.g., WS-AP3825i, WiNG, SecureStacks, etc) use the Short Description as the Marketing # for consistency with previous ordering systems, contracts, etc. We then create a "fake" 3XXXX number to map services to it since services are always 9XXXX-XXXXX.
