Changing a device from unmanaged to managed but error says I have reached the licence limit

Hi

I have 3 switches that has not been reporting into HiveManager for some time

To try to get the devices to reconnect, we moved them to unmanaged, removed from the console and then re-enrolled.

The switch appears now in the monitoring list as "HOSTNAME"

When I try to deploy to it I get the error:

"The requested operation cannot be performed because the selection contains at least one unmanaged device. Be sure that all selected devices appear in the table of managed devices and have active CAPWAP connections to HiveManager before attempting the operation. If the affected devices do not appear as managed devices and make a CAPWAP connection to HiveManager within 30 minutes, try deleting, and then re-adding the devices."

So I think maybe the device is unmanaged, so I select the device, click 'Action' , 'Change Management Status', and change to 'Managed'

At this point is tells me "Cannot change device admin state to MANAGED because you have reached the maximum device number"

But as far as I can tell I am under my licences allocation, and the device previously had a licence assigned to it

I have a total of 114 licences.

The monitoring list shows 119 devices, 3 (the switches) are now un-managed, and 6 are atoms, so I'm using 112 licences but it say's I'm using 114.

Is there a way to see which licences are in use with which device?

I have the list of monitored devices, but there aren't enough devices in the monitoring list to account for al the licences. Is there anywhere I can see which licences assignments make up the 114?

Thanks

Darren

Aerohive doesn't tie licenses directly to hardware by serial number or other means. They simply expect the quantity of licenses to be equal to or greater than the quantity of devices being managed.

In the legacy HM platform, you could click on the "Aerohive Devices" link there and it would show you a count of hardware. That's what I was referring to. 86383145b18b4b98938aea3406582297_0690c000008uxpaAAA.png

I've no idea if that view exist in some form in the current HM platforms.

I can see the licences, but it doesn't seem to tell me what licences are assigned to which device.

There may be another screen somewhere that tells me this, but I can't find it.

I'm going to Global Settings and License Management, its shows me all the licences, adding up to 114, but it doesn't say which devices they apply to

Thanks

Maybe it's too early in the morning for me to be doing math myself! 😞

Your's looks more accurate than mine. Unless the quantity of devices in the managed device list is skewed by ATOM APs.

If you go to Administration and License Management, does it show a detailed breakdown of the hardware like it did in HM Classic?

I understood atoms used 1 licence per 3 devices, maybe I have the maths wrong

So 116 total managed devices, but 6 of the atoms use only 2 licences, so I can discount 4 devices, because only two require a licence 116 - 4, leaving me 112?

Thanks
