Does the HiveManager expose client location information via api or via stream?

Hi,

one of our clients uses aerohive with the following configuration:

  • AP121
  • HiveOS 6.5r8
  • Hivemanager 8.2r1

We require client location analytics, similar to what the Aerohive Cloud Services platform offers. See https://developer.aerohive.com/docs/location-presence

My first question is: Does the Hivemanager 8.2r1 offers any way in extracting the client location informatioN?

If yes, where can I find the documentation for that specific task?

thanks.

HiveManager versions starting with 8.x are HiveManager Classic versions. To migrate to HiveManager (formerly NG), you would want to follow this guide: https://thehivecommunity.aerohive.com/s/article/HiveManager-Classic-to-HiveManager-Migration-Guide

If you are moving from online HiveManager Classic to online HiveManager, or from HiveManager Classic on premises to HiveManager on premises, there is no change in your licensing cost and you can move your current keys over to the new HiveManager and just renew them when you would have otherwise needed to renew them. Unfortunately there is no way to move configuration from Classic to HiveManager, so you or the end user would need to rebuild the configuration objects in HiveManager.

Thanks for clarifying the name of the different versions and the status of the location engine.

Thanks for the answer.

Our client is using Hivemanager 8.2r1. Is this the one you mentioned?

If not, how can we understand what needs to be done to migrate? Does it involve licensing or configuration from the client side?

thanks.

Unfortunately that isn't available for Classic any more. We used to support this in Classic, but that is no longer the case. You would need to migrate to HiveManager (formerly NG) to link to an API to collect location information.
