I do believe that we should work with another solution such as self registration. This would require the clients to register on their first visit. You can configure the User Group associated to prevent the user from expiring so that they can return and automatically connect, as long as their client is set to remember credentials.
This feature does work with an Open and a PPSK SSID so the individual users can be adjusted without affecting other clients. Here is a link to the configuration guide of a Self Registration setup: https://thehivecommunity.aerohive.com/s/article/Self-Registration-PPSK-SSID-in-Hivemanager

That would have to be a request to your local Aerohive representative or @Sam Pirokā might have to chime in. I suspect you'll need a better business case in wanting the APs to hold onto client info for longer durations. As an FYI, an AP can only hold about 2007 station IDs in the AID value anyways. I'd imagine that and possibly needing more RAM/storage are just some of the reasons they age client info.

Thanks Brian, are we able to raise a request for enhancement at all to accommodate this in the future?
Thanks,
Andrew

The splash page has a registration period that can be set. It's default value is 720 minutes but is configurable from (1-120960 minutes).
But it sounds like your users are leaving the network and coming back and wish to not have to accept the page again. This has to do with Inactive Client Ageout value on the SSID. The max you can set that to is 30 minutes (defaults to 5 minutes). Meaning that once an AP doesn't hear from a client for 30 minutes, it will flush all knowledge of it out and when the user comes back it will have to start anew.
There's not much you can do about that age out timer. If it was a simple PSK WLAN, there'd be no user involvement in rejoining the WLAN. Even on a PSK WLAN, since the clients would be treated as new, even with a long registration period for clients on the CWP, they'd still get prompt'd to have to accept it again.
About the only option you'd have is to remove the CWP and simply put a passphrase/PSK on the SSID for the guests.
