It will depend on your requirements. If all you need is basic networking, Connect may be all you need without a subscription. If you need more robust options, you can upgrade to Select licensing, either cloud, or on-premise if you have a VM environment.
Some things to keep in mind:
- One license per device, excluding ATOM AP30s (one license covers three devices)
- One, three, or five year cloud licenses are available
- On-prem perpetual licensing is no longer available
