Hi- we have on-premise Hivemanager NG vm currently running 11.26.0.29 and would like to upgrade to v12.
The following article states a direct upgrade is not possible, and instead to:
* upgrade to 11.26.3.5
* patch it to 11.26.3.6
* export VHM data
* create new HiveManager NG running 12.8.0.1 and import VHM data.
http://docs.aerohive.com/330000/docs/help/english/ng/Content/reference/virtual-appliance-release-notes.htm
In "Upgrading from HiveManager Virtual Appliance 11.26.3.5 to 12.8" section of above doc, it states that after importing VHM data into HiveManager virtual appliance 12.8:
"...When you import your VHM into HiveManager Virtual Appliance 12.8, the devices are imported in an unmanaged state. Because of this, HiveManager Virtual Appliance ignores device connection attempts. To allow your devices to connect to HiveManager, manually change the status of your devices to Managed."
Can someone please explain how to do this, and whether there is any possibility of losing communication with Access Points? My APs are in various remote satellite offices, and it will be very difficult to get any kind of serial connection to them if required.
Thanks for advice.
Tom

To change a devices management status, you'll want to go to Manage> Check the box next to the AP(s)> Actions> Change Management Status> Manage Devices. The APs will disconnect from the original HiveManager and you won't be able to communicate with them remotely until they connect to the new HiveManager. Theoretically they should do this on their own, but if any problems come up you would need to be on site to troubleshoot, either by SSHing in with the IP address of the AP or via a console cable.
