Port cycling up and down on regular intervals

Port cycling up and down on regular intervals

I have an AP250 connected to an SR2208P switch on port 2. The port is set up as an access port because they are both on VLAN1. The port will not stay connected. In the monitoring events the port shows the following pattern:

Down for 54 seconds

Up for 0-1 seconds

Down 3 seconds

Up 18-19 seconds

Then starts over at the Down for 54 seconds.

I am unable to Console into the AP and the reset button doesn't appear to work. Cannot connect the AP to the HiveManager because it doesn't stay connected long enough .

Any ideas which setting I bungled to create the above sequence of port 2 up and down?

Hi Dave,

Not a lot to go on, but this sounds a little like the behavior you get with a loop in the switch path. The switch is possibly trying to protect itself from a broadcast storm by downing the port.

Did you disable spanning tree (STP) anywhere? Did it start after a recent configuration or topology change?
